AGM 2018

Barrow Deaf Centre

CDA’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 24th February 2018 at our Barrow Centre, 217 Duke Street, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 1XT. The Agenda, Annual Report & Accounts and other papers have been sent out to all the Association’s members. We also welcome new members and anyone wishing to join should use this link to our membership form.

Throughout 2016 and 2017, an extensive refurbishment programme at our Barrow Centre took place. This is now complete and an official re-opening took place towards the end of last year. The AGM will be an opportunity to learn more about this work, view the refurbished Centre and recognise the generosity of all the Trusts and other individuals and organisations who have contributed.

At the end of 2017, Cumbria County Council decided to take the provision of Social Work for Deaf adults and children in-house. Cumbria Deaf Association has, though, been successful in tendering for a grant from the County Council to deliver a Specialist Information, Advice and Support service to meet the needs of Cumbrian adult residents with any degree of hearing or dual sensory loss. This new service started in January 2018 and there will be a chance to learn more about what it means to the community at the AGM.
