The Next Generation of BSL Communicators

Two ladies communicating with sign language

As the need for BSL Interpreters grows, we as an organisation feel it is our duty to offer development days for local trainee interpreters. This serves not only to improve their professional practice but it helps improve their relationship within the local deaf community. On average it takes about 7 years to become a fully qualified British Sign Language interpreter.

In addition to training for the professional sign language interpreters, we have scheduled our first, post-pandemic, face to face open Introduction to British Sign Language course. It starts after Easter, held at our Kendal centre. Dates will soon be published for our Carlisle and Barrow courses.
