Bendrigg Residential 2017

This year we had 34 at the annual family residential at Bendrigg Trust, Old Hutton, Kendal. We had brilliant weather for March so we were able to get out for all the activities that were planned.
On Friday evening some went to the indoor cave and had fun crawling around in the dark while others spent time in the sports hall and sensory room.
On Saturday morning we were split into three groups. Group 1 went caving at Ribblesdale viaduct area where they had a very wet but fun time going in and out of three caves. The highlight was when Martin tried to get out of the ‘letterbox’ but couldn’t so had to return the way he had come. The whole group came back telling us what fun they had had.
Groups 2 and 3 went canoeing on the canal and met a friendly family of swans, and also went indoor rock climbing. The children were like little monkeys scampering up the wall and over the top. When they came back to the bottom they asked “can we do a harder one?”.
In the evening there was a choice of archery or camp fire and marshmallows in the yurt. The yurt was lovely and warm with the fire on and fun was had with silly games and songs.
Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny. Group 1 went rock climbing while groups 2 and 3 did a combination of zip slide, ropes course, tube slide and sensory swing.
After lunch sadly we had to tidy up, have the certificate presentation and come home with our memories of a brilliant but exhausting weekend.
