Pizza party in Barrow for young people - Cumbria Deaf Association

On Sunday 15th July 2018 there was a pizza party in Barrow, We made our own pizzas and while they were cooking made some cupcakes and cookies, and ate them all, delicious. We also did a few silly games, throw and catch with ping pong balls and cups, badminton with balloons and fly swatters. A lovely social time together.

On Wednesday 1st August 2108 we had a sailing day with Blackwell Sailing, Windermere. The weather was perfect, plenty of wind and no rain (it started to rain 10 minutes after we got out of the boats) All the young people were able to have a go at the helm and change the ropes over for the gib sheet at the front. All had a wonderful day and a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped us for the day.

We have had 2 days looking at our deaf awareness videos and posters. One young lady is going to work with a charity called Fixers to produce a resource around bullying and being deaf. If other young people would like to join in with the project they would be very welcome. We are also looking at producing some posters with a graphic designer to send out to GP’s, audiology departments, schools etc and we would welcome any input towards these. More dates will be set after the holidays to organise this. This is our first attempt at producing a video. We still need to work out how to put subtitles onto it.
