The Children’s Deaf Services Open Day

Cumbria Deaf Association hosted a great afternoon at our Kendal centre. The Children’s Deaf Services Open Day had stalls from a number of voluntary and statutory agencies including, of course, the services that CDA provides. We were all there to give a presentation and explain how Deaf people from Cumbria can access the services. It was great to see so many people from the Deaf Community at the Open Day. We are proud to be working with Cumbrian agencies to improve accessibility for Deaf people.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for supporting this event again, especially CDA for letting us use their venue, to the Cochlear Team and Phonak for providing the amazing food and refreshments and to Julie Hodgson for sending all the invites out to our families. I would also like to thank Michelle for all her hard work and commitment in arranging such a successful event for families with deaf children in Cumbria. Organising such things doesn’t just happen – it takes time and dedication.

I know that every family that I spoke to were appreciative and told me that they had learned so much about services that they simply had not come across before. They all really valued the event – as do we as professionals so thank you to the families as well.

Apologies I forgot to do feedback forms this year but I think it was clear that it was another success.

So thanks again to everyone involved in setting this up and for those that contributed as well as all the freebies!!! I was delighted to see several of ‘my’ families there and hope to see you next year…if not before!

I’ll be in touch again for next year’s event.
